Basically 'have' is an auxiliary verb or we can also call it helping verb. When we indicate any action which is completed in the present or when we want to show present perfect tense we have to use 'have' as a helping verb.

Apart from the basic use of helping verb we can use 'have' in different ways.

When we use have as a main verb it indicates different roles.

1.have indicates possession-

  • I have a big red car.
  • They have four room flat

2. have is used to give offer-

  • Let's have a tea.
  • Have a seat.

3.have is used to show relationship-

  • They have three kids.
  • We have no children.

4. have is used to show belongings-

  • I have a big bungalow.
