                                              Crocker Harris

Crocker Harris is a middle-aged senior teacher in the same school where Frank is also a teacher. Mr. Harris teaches Latin to students. He is a very strict teacher and enjoys an admirable command over his students. He follows rules and regulations of the school quite meticulously. He is strict with his students; but he is not a sadist. He does not want his students to like him; he wants them to make sincere efforts in learning. He gives extra-work to students who show carelessness and make mistakes. Though he is strict, his students admire him.

Crocker Harris is a strict school teacher.

In the play “ The Browning Version by Terence Rattigan, Mr.Crocker Harris was presented via other characters and their opinions.

He sticks to the rules and obeys his set of principles and beliefs.

When the rule asked him to keep the result away till the last day of the term he obeyed the rule and kept the results away from the children.

He is very conscious about his duties and leaves the school at the end of the term and is quite busy.

But this does not stop him from asking Taplow to come in for extra work which was done during Taplow's sickness.

When Taplow asks about his result, Mr.Harris is very evasive. He is a hard master who teaches languages.

Even his jokes are classical and students fail to understand them.

Students are scared to death of him.

He displays no kind of emotion.

In short, he fancies us with his stern and dutiful character for which he was appreciated by students.
