What do you get when you evaluate 5x−2 at both 0 and –1?

Solution:

Let p(x) = 5x-2

i) if x = 0, then

p(0) = 5×0 -2

= 0 -2

= -2

p(0) = -2

ii ) If x = -1 , then

p(-1) = 5(-1) - 2

= -5 -2

= -7

p(-1) = -7
