The Chola dynasty was a Tamil thalassocratic empire of southern India, one of the longest-ruling dynasties in the world's history. The earliest datable references to the Chola are in inscriptions from the 3rd century BCE left by Ashoka, of the Maurya Empire. I hope it's clear

Answer:

Cholas established a powerful empire in South India. That is why they are known as the imperial Cholas. They ruled in south India for nearly 4 centuries. Tanjore now known as Thanjavur was their capital. Vijayalaya was the first king of this dynasty. He ruled the regions north of River Kaveri. Parantaka 1 conquered Madurai from the Pandyas. He was, however, defeated by the Rashtrakuta king, Krishna III in the battle of Takkolam in 949. Rajaraja Chola and Rajendra Chola are the two great rulers of chola dynasty.
