In the poem "FIRE AND ICE" written by Robert Frost, the poet says that the world will end in FIRE. Fire here symbolises the desire of human beings.

Desire propels in hot pursuit of achieving something. Like Fire, desire keeps growing. Once you feed the fire something it becomes more dangerous. Similarly once you get something that you wished for you start desiring for more.

According to the poet the world will one day end because of the unending desire of human beings. The fire of desire keeps on devouring all. The conflict, greed and cruelty are against humanity. And humanity is the what makes us a "human". Thus once we acquire these qualities which have the power to burn our humanity, that day the existence of world will be in danger.

Fire is the visible effect of the process of combustion – a special type of chemical reaction. It occurs between oxygen in the air and some sort of fuel. The products from the chemical reaction are completely different from the starting material.
