It is a revolution which was introduced in the late 1960s to the Indian farmer to cultivate wheat and rice using high yielding varieties (HYVs)

How it helped Indian agriculture?

It help the Indian agriculture in many ways some of them are follows:-
▶The HYV seeds promised to produce much greater amounts of grain on a single plant.
▶As a result the same piece of land now produced for larger quantities of food grains than was possible earlier.
▶Farmers had greater amounts of surplus wheat and rice to sell in the markets.
▶The farmers of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh gained massive profits because the Green revolution was introduced first here only.
