The full form of HBJ Pipeline is Hazira-Bijaypur-Jagdishpur pipeline also known as HVJ pipeline – V stands for Vijaipur other name of Bijaypur. It is an Indias first interstate Project operated by GAIL (Gas Authority of India Ltd.) from south to north. The purpose of the pipeline is to provide gas to fertilizer plants located in the state of Uttar Pradesh begins from Hazira in Gujarath State passess through Bijaypur in Madhya pradesh State up to Jagadishpur in Uttarapredesh comprising a total grid length of 3471 km. which includes supply of gas to industrial as well as domestic use in Rajasthan , Haryana and NCT ( national Capital Territory). The entire grid has ten terminals composing of gas filteration and heating systems relief, metering and analising systems. It has also consists of receiving and despatching terminals for the supply of metered gas, compressor stations for boosting the pressure of gas. The project was started in 1986. The first phase has 1750 km. grid commissioned in 1997 and completed in March 1999.
