The Krishna godavari dispute had arisen due to objections raised by the Karnataka and Andhra pradesh governments.

it is regarding the diversion of more water at konya by the maharashtrian govt. for a multipurpose project.

this would reduce downstream flow in their states with adverse consequences  foe industry and agriculture.

Krishna Godavari dispute

Government of India (GoI) constituted a common tribunal on 10 April 1969 to adjudicate the river water utilization disputes among the river basin states of Godavari and Krishna rivers under the provisions of Interstate River Water Disputes Act – 1956.

Reason behindd Krishna Godavari ispute

Krishna-Godavari dispute was due to the objections raised by Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. It was regarding the diversion of more water at Koyna river which a tributary of Krishna river for a multi-purpose project.
