Krishna-Godavari dispute is due to the objections raised by the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. It is regarding the diversion of more water at Koyna by the Maharashtra government for a multipurpose project. This would reduce downstream flow
in their states with adverse consequences for agriculture and industry. Similar disputes
arise as Kaveri issue between the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, and Yamuna water dispute between Haryana and Delhi governments regarding the use of water.
