The reformation Movement was a movement they took place in Europe from the 15th to the 16th century. It was initiated by Erasmus & his book 'In Pryer Of Folly'. Later it was carried out by Martin Luther.
Martin Luther was a German professor of Theology ( Study of certain religions). He was angered by the malpractices of the Catholic Church & also the 'religious ministers' who exploited and cheated the common people. So he started the Reformation Movement. The Movement spread across Germany, England, Scotland, France, etc.
But only 9 years after his death, 'The Peace Of Augsburg' was signed in 1555 wherein The Catholic Church split into 2 sects - The Roman Catholic Church & the Protestants.
That was the end of the Reformation Movement & also rolled in the Counter Reformation - The Council Of Trent where the Roman Catholic Church reformed itself and put an end to any exploitative activities or malpractices.
