Explanation:

The lesson that we learnt from the sacrifice of grandmother for her grandson is that we should always keep other's needs before our's.

We should not be selfish and self centered.

We should always be the first one to help everyone in need. Sometimes helping others appears to be hurtful for your self but it is what it appears to be. In the long run it pays back.

If this question is from the chapter 'The Portrait of a Lady by Khushwant Singh then here is the answer:

In the chapter the grandmother made many sacrifices such as living alone in a separate room, not being able to interact much with her grandson on account of his English medium education. At the village she was the sole care taker of him; but in city she became lonely. She accepted her seclusion with resignation and found other ways to keep herself busy, such as by spinning wheel, feeding the sparrows, etc.

From her sacrifices we learn she was quite a strong character and did not impose herself on others. She cared for the needs and comfports of others and adapted herself accordingly.
