Mathematically we express the quantity of work done by
W = Force(F) × displacement (s).
Thus from the above equation we can conclude that when a force of 1 Newton (N) is applied on an object and as a result the object gets displaced by an amount of 1 m, then the net work done on the object will be 1 Nm. We denote the quantity of work by the unit Joule (J)
1 Joule = 1 Newton meter.
