the distance and displacement are same when an object travels in a straight line in a positive direction... 5m/s2 means an accerlation of a body.
we use square after seconds bcoz we find accerlation by change in velocity/time
so in units it will be m/s divided by seconds

it means that every second the speed of the body is increasing by 5m
                                       or
the acceleration of the body is 5m/s sq.

distance and displacement are same when the final and the initial position are same. eg; a body moving in a circular motion.
