6 exchanges in a dialogue means you have to exchange ideas and opinions alternately 6 times. An example is..

1.Sarah: Hi what's you name? I'm Sarah.

2.Melissa: I'm Melissa, nice to meet you!

3.Sarah: Nice to meet you too! Do you wanna be friends?

4.Melissa: Sure thing! I'd love to be friends with you.

5.Sarah: Great! Do you wanna play with me at the playground?

6.Melissa: Sure! Let's get going!

So you see, they're taking turns by exchanging dialogues 6 times.
