What do you mean by a precipitation reaction explain by giving examples?
Answers
Answer:
Precipitation reaction:
A chemical reaction is a process in which some of the reactant molecules react to form new substances. These new substances are called as products. The conversion of the reactant to product is called as chemical reaction. On the basis of formation of the product; reactions can be classified in different types. Precipitation reactions are the reactions in which the solid product is formed that settled down at the bottom. This is called as precipitate.
Example:- BaCl2+ H2SO4 --> BaSO4+ 2HCl
A reaction in which an insoluble solid (called precipitate) is formed is called a precipitation reaction.For Example:
Na2CO3 (aq) + CaCl2 (aq) → CaCO3 (s) + 2NaCl (aq)
Sodium Carbonate + Calcium Chloride → Calcium Carbonate + Sodium Chloride
In this reaction, calcium carbonate is obtained as a precipitate. Hence, it is a precipitation reaction.
