AQUATIC ADAPTATION:

aquatic adaptations developed due to aquatic mode of life of animals like fish, mammals like seal, Dolphin, whale, snake and some insects, Octopus, prawn,etc. the aquatic adaptations include the following characteristics.

  • streamlined a spinal-saved body, to have the move easily in water.
  • some sea animals like Octopus and squids, stay deeper in the ocean near the seabed and catch the prey that moves towards them. but, they make their body streamlined when they move in water.
  • fishes have slippery skills on their bodies. this is case protect the fish and also help inbeasy movement through water.
  • gills present in the fish help them to use oxygen dissolved in water.
  • gills are absent in some sea animals like dolphins and nostrils called 'blowholes' through which air enters or leaves.blowhole are located on the upper part of their heads.they can stay inside the water for a long time without breathing and come out to the surface from time to time.
  • swimming organs are fins in fishes and flippers in whales.
