Answer:

Objectivity in journalism aims to help the audience make up their own mind about a story, providing the facts alone and then letting audiences interpret those on their own. To maintain objectivity in journalism, journalists should present the facts whether or not they like or agree with those facts.

Not all of the media has to be unbiased. That is why Newspapers have editorial/opinion sections. Having a bias there is expected and helps people see different sides of the “NEWS” that is being reported. That is the job of the opinion/editorial section of the media. What has become a problem is the hard news side. We want a free press so that they will be able to give us details of what is actually unfolding in front of us, in the country and around the world. We know that politicians spin everything. We know politicians and political parties have partisan views that are sometimes in direct opposition of each other. Our media is damaging themselves and their reputation by picking a side to spin in conjunction with. This means they no longer function as a tool to inform the public on actual facts of events, but instead have become influence brokers, activists, and fancy ideological political action committees for a party. Instead of influencing the public with facts and letting people make up their minds, they are channeling people to the point of view that the media company wants them it have.
