The anomalous expansion of water is an abnormal property of water whereby it expands instead of contracting when the temperature goes from 4oC to 0oC, and it becomes less dense. The density becomes less and less as it freezes because molecules of water normally form open crystal structures when in solid form.

● Anomalous expansion of water can be explained as an abnormal property Where water expands as temperature decreases from 4 degree centigrade to zero degree centigrade instead of contraction.

● The strange extension of water alludes to the way that water, in contrast to most substances, grows when it freezes.

● The thickness of water increments as temperature diminishes, yet arrives at a most extreme at 4 degrees C at that point starts to grow.

● The importance of this is ice is less thick than water so it drifts in water.
