Apartheid was an institutional discrimination on the basis of race and color. It was practiced in South Africa ( late 1940s-1990s) where the authoritarian political culture was based on white supremacy and oppression of Non-European blacks.
Under the apartheid system, the Non-Europeans were discriminated socially, politically and economically for the benefit of European white minority in South Africa.
