Apartheid started as a desperate measure to save South Africa from a Communist takeover.
In the early 1900s the South African Communist Party started recruiting black South Africans. They needed to build up enough voters in SA to take over the government. With a population ratio of over 10 blacks to 1 white, it would require little effort for the Communists to out vote the whites. At this time the black South Africans were not aware of how evil Communism is. The white South Africans did know.
As the Communists’ converted more blacks there was a need to save SA. The SA government decided to continue a process started by the British many years before. The British had began a process to give black tribes back their traditional homelands. The SA government then started this process up again and called it Apartheid. The SA map was taken and borders were drawn around the areas the the different black tribes lived in. These areas became Homelands or Bantustans. Now, literally with the stroke of a pen, South Africa had a white majority and the Communists could not out vote the SA government. All blacks that used to be South Africans were now free and independent citizens of their own countries. Each Homeland was to be trained to be self sufficient with its own independent government that would be elected by the blacks in that Homeland. Until a Homeland got to the stage of self sufficiency, the SA government and the white SA tax payer would fund the Homelands so as not to let the people suffer. Most Homelands got to this point much sooner than expected. The Homeland system proved that the black tribes could live peacefully and successfully by them selves. This is basically how the blacks lived before the Europeans brought in the idea that everyone from different cultures must be forced to lived among each other. Today still the European world incorrectly believes that forcing people to share cultures is healthy.
