The word monsoon is derived from the arabic word "mausim" meaning season. By the end of May the south-west monsoon bursts with storm and rain on the Kerala coast. The heavy rainfall continues for two to three days continuously. This advent of rain bearing monsoon is called the burst of monsoon.
