Chlor-alkali process is a process by which caustic soda (sodium hydroxide is produced. In this, electricity is passed through brine, which results in the liberation of chlorine and hydrogen gas, along with the formation of sodium hydroxide.

NaCl + H2O →NaOH + CL2 + H2

The products of this process are extremely useful.

Hope it helps!

Feel free to ask if any doubts.

During the formation of sodium hydroxide hydrogen gas is obtained at the cathode and chlorine gas at anode.NaOH remains in solution. The solution on evaporation gives solid NaOH.
This process is called Chlor-alkali process☆.
