Answer:

Classification is a process related to categorization, the process in which ideas and objects are recognized, differentiated and understood.

Explanation:

Why is there a need of classification?

Classifying information cognitively makes it easier to work with and remember. Imagine your memory was a large warehouse where you randomly tossed everything in. How would you find something? Where would your start looking? By grouping similar or related items, our memory creates “slots or baskets” for like information. It is far easier to search through like information in a small file or basket. Finding a similar piece of information often leads us to another like bit of information. By classifying things, you make it easier to learn what they are and identify them. Imagine if you had to learn about each butterfly or automobile from scratch—all of its properties, every time you encountered a new car or butterfly you had seen before. How time consuming! How awkward! Classifying objects, events, situations, etc. allows us respond to members of a class much more effectively and quickly.
