Composite fish culture is a polyculture system in which compatible fishesof different species having different feeding habits are selected and grown in the pond to exploit all types of food available in the different regions of the pond for maximizing fish production.→ Fish can be grown in crop fields especially paddy.→ Intensive Fish farming is possible because plenty of water is available               during crop seasons.→ In this system both local and imported fish species can be cultivated.

In this system both local and imported fish species, a combination of five or six fish species is used in a single fish pond

Advantages of composite fish culture :

(i) It helps to get a variety in fish yield.

(ii) Food in the pond gets evenly used up due to different varieties of fish having different food habits present in a pond.

(iii) Fish do not compete for food as all type of fish get their kind of food. (any two) Hormonal stimulation ensures the supply of pure fish seed in desired quantities.
