Consumer courts are special courts which addresses consumer complaints and grievances. These are set up to protect consumer rights which are done in the form of judiciary hearings. Its main motive is to maintain the fair practices by the sellers towards consumers. Consumers who file a case against sellers if they are harassed for their products are addressed in these courts.The court only considers those types of cases in which the consumer can place a proof in the form of documents, bills etc.The main function of consumer court is to provide some extra privilege to the consumers and to maintain fair practice by the seller or the service provider towards the consumer.
There are different types of courts at different levels like:
National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC)
State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (SCDRC)
District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum (DCDRF)
Consumer forums are type of local organization who make aware consumers about their right and services for buying a product and achieve maximum satisfaction.If they are not happy with the desired services they are guided in the procedure for lodging complaints against such producers.They may also represent individual consumers in consumer court in many occasions.These voluntary organisations also receive financial support from the government for creating awareness among the people.They write articles and publish in newspapers to create general awareness.
