What do you mean by contact and non-contact forces​

Friction is an example of contact force. Gravitational force is an example of non-contact force.

When two surfaces are in contact with each other then force acting between them is contact force.

For example-Muscular force

When two surfaces are not in contact between each other then force acting between them is non contact force.

Example-Magnetic force

For a force to act it's not important to have contact between surfaces ,there should be interaction between two surfaces
