The doctrines of the French Revolution were traced from the Enlightenment, motivated by the American Revolution. French revolutionary ideas were explained by giving the slogan “Liberty and Equality! They wanted freedom and equality for the lower classes who were always oppressed by the clergy and nobility.

The French Revolution encouraged in the growth of democracy because the people of France took the Enlightenment doctrines and applied it towards their objective of getting liberated from monarchical rule. French lower classes wanted to abolish the longstanding Bourbon monarchy and wanted to establish its First Republican form of government in 1792 on the basis of democratic ideals.  They believe in the secularism and want to uplift the society from the differences based on caste and gender.
