Answer:

(7)Democracy is a form of  government in which the rulers are  elected by the people.

(8)Legitimate government is a government under which law and action of the government are revealed to the people and government function in a transparent manner. Following features of a democratic government make it a legitimate government.

(i) The laws are applicable to all the citizen whether rich or poor.

(it) In a democracy there is a political equality i.e. every vote counts equally.

(iii) People have the right to challenge the government policies and actions. If the people are not satisfied with the working of the government they have the right to change it.

(9)The factors which are responsible for the successful working of democracy in India are:

(i) In India there is an autonomous Election Commission. Free and fair elections are held periodically. The people elect their representatives through the election procedure.

(ii) The local governments take care of the issues pertaining to their regions. The Panchayati Raj system enables the people to participate in governance.

(iii) Freedom of press and media enables the people to be well informed about the governmental activities.

(10)the economic outcomes of democracy are:

it helps in eradication of various programs and policies that are not beneficial for the people of the country though economic development in democracy is not as high as dictatorship ,however it does help in reduction of economic disparities in a  country also there are various factor that affect the economic growth of the country like population size, global situation, cooperation from other countries, economic priorities of the country etc.

(11)The reasons for this:

(i) The decision-making process in democracy is delayed.

(ii) Democracies often frustrate the needs of the people.

(iii) It often ignore the demands of majority of its population.

(iv) The routine tales of corruption associated with it.

(v) Most democracies fall short of elections that provide fair chance to everyone and in subjecting every decision to public debate.

(12)Democratic form of government stands much superior to any other form of government in promoting dignity and freedom of the individual :

(i) Often conflict arises among individuals because some feel that they are not treated with equal respect in comparison to others. In democracy, respect and freedom are the basis of it.

(ii) The status of women was not satisfactory in the different part of the world, but democracy throughout the world has recognized equal treatment and respect to women at least in principles.

(iii) In India 1/3rd of seats have been reserved for women in local bodies.

(iv) Democracy in India has strengthened the claims of the disadvantaged and discriminated castes for equal status and opportunity, which is not possible in any non-democratic country.

(v) Democracy guaranteeing fundamental rights to all. Democracy stands much superior to any other form of government promoting dignity and freedom of the individual.

(13)”Democracy stands much superior in promoting dignity and freedom to the citizens”:  Democracy promotes dignity and freedom of the individual. Every individual wants to receive respect from fellow beings. Democracies have achieved this to a certain degree in many countries.  Long struggles by women have got them respect and equal treatment. In many democracies, women were deprived of their right to vote for a long time which they have achieved now. Women can now wage a struggle against what is now unacceptable legally and morally. In a non-democratic set-up, women would not have a legal basis to fight for equality.  Democracy has strengthened the claims of the disadvantaged and discriminated castes for equal status and equal opportunity.  People now look critically at the work of those who hold power, the rich, the powerful. They express their dissatisfaction loudly. It shows they are no longer subjects but citizens of a democratic country. In a democratic country like India, constitution provides provisions for the protection of our fundamental rights.
