dinosaur(s) are creatures that used to roam the earth millions of years ago.

All of them expired due to catastrophic events that impacted the earth back them. Now, all we have are skeletons of those creatures.

Explanation:

a fossil reptile of the Mesozoic era, in many species reaching an enormous size is called dinosaur.

The word dinosaur really does not mean “terrible-lizard.” Actually, it was originally defined to mean “fearfully-great lizard” by Richard Owen in 1842. The Greek word deinos, when used as a superlative, means “fearfully-great,” as used by Homer in The Iliad.
