1n or haploid means that a cell contains half of the genetic material. In humans this would be 23 chromosomes. Sex cells arehaploid. 2n or diploid can be used to describe cells with all the genetic material which would be 46 chromosomes in humans. All cells but the sex cells(gametes) are diploid.
