Dominant alleles: The genes which decides the trait in the presence of other different gene.In other words, the trait that is expressed is called dominant alleles and is denoted by capital letter.

Recessive Alleles: The gene which decides  the trait in the presence of other identical genes. In other words, the trait that is not expressed is called recessive alleles and is denoted by small letters.

The traits due to dominant alleles are always expressed even when a recessive allele is present.

Traits due to recessive alleles are only observed when two recessive alleles are present.

For example,

If an individual inherits:

☆ Two tall alleles (TT), the person will be tall.

☆One tall allele(T) and one short allele(t), then the person will be tall.

☆ Two short alleles(t t), that is recessive, then the person will be short.

Hope it help....
