Emergency Contraceptive Method-
• This is a method to prevent pregnancy by giving pills.
• This type of protection can be done within 72 hours for unprotected sexual intercourse.
• This is also known as the "Morning after pill"
• Those pills are mostly effective, it is said that 75-90% people became successful means in preventing pregnancy.
• Up to 3-5 days it can be taken after unprotected sex but actually it depends on the brand of the medicine.
Mechanism Of Working
• It Creates hypermotility of the fallopian tube.
• Implementation and Fertilization does not occur due to hypermotility of the uterus.
Disadvantages of this method
• Sometimes it leads to vomiting and nausea as well.
• Period after taking pills may start earlier or may be later.
• There is no protection against diseases like STI and HIV.
• Failure rate is 1%.
Emergency Contraception Method
★It is a contraceptive technique which prevents getting pregnant after sexual intercourse or incase the used contraceptive device fails to do so
There are two types of ECM:
- Intrauterine Device(IUD)
- Contraceptive Pills(Also called Levonelle)
★IUD should be used within five days of unprotected intercourse and the pills are effective only for a period before three days
★Generally,IUD is more effective as compared to pills

It contains a chemical with stops the functioning of the hormone progesterone,delaying the menstrual cycle.

Delays the process of ovulation
