In geographical,

Escape velocity is how fast an object needs to be traveling in order to escape the pull of the planet's gravity. On earth, escape velocity is about 25,000 miles per hour. An object must have enough energy, or thrust, to get to its escape velocity

Velocity is a physical vector quantity; both magnitude and direction are needed to define it. The scalar absolute value (magnitude) of velocityis called "speed", being a coherent derived unit whose quantity is measured in the SI (metric) system as metres per second (m/s) or as the SI base unit of (m⋅s−1).
