In general, heterogametic sex refers to the condition in which both the sex chromosomes are different, also known as digametic sex. For example:
• In men, X and Y are sex chromosomes, referred as heterogametic male;
• In women, both the sex chromosomes are X chromosomes, known as homogametic female.
