Answer:

GMT stands for Greenwich Mean/Meridian Time and IST stands for Indian Standard Time.

The time difference then IST is +5:30 GMT i.e. Indian time is 5 hours and 30 minutes ahead of the world standard which is GMT.

IT IS BECAUSE OF THE PLACE OR THE LATITUDES AT WHICH THESE PLACES ARE PRESENT, THE IST( INDIAN STANDARD TIME) IS AT 82'30 AND THE GMT (GREENWICH MERIDIAN TIME) IS PRESENT AT THE 0 THE EARTH ROTATES FROM WEST TO EAST WHICH CAUSES THE SUNLIGHT TO REACH INDIA FASTER AND BEFORE GMT AT LONDON . SO IST IS 5 HRS.
