Green revolution refers to the introduction of High yielding variety (HYV) of seeds and increased use of fertilizer and irrigation methods. It took place during the 1960s especially 1965onwards. It was aimed at providing increase in production to make India self-sufficient in food grains.

Green revolution was introduced by central government to increase the production because land is fixed there is no increasement in it and population is increasing rapidly .

So there is need to increase in production .To increase production farmer use modern inputs like HYV seeds , pesticides, fertiliser and insecticide.
