What do you mean by green revolution? how it helped india to develop?

Green Revolution was introduced in the late 1960.It lead to the phenomenal increase in the production food grains mainly wheat and rice by the use of HYV seeds, modern means of irrigation as well as with the use of pesticides and insecticides.
