High pressure area means the atmospheric pressure of that particular are is high or more as compared to the surrounding areas.

Low pressure area means the atmospheric pressure of that particular area is low or less as compared to the surrounding areas.

High pressure areas are areas where the atmospheric pressure above the surface of that region is higher than the atmospheric pressure of surrounding regions. Low pressure areas are regions where the atmospheric pressure is lower than the atmospheric pressure of the surrounding region.
