Intercropping is a multiple cropping practice involving growing two or more crops in proximity. The most common goal of intercropping is to produce a greater yield on a given piece of land by making use of resources or ecological processes that would otherwise not be utilized by a single crop.

Inter cropping system with example:

Intercropping is the process of planting more than one crop at the "same time on the same land". The important goal of the inter cropping is to give a "greater yield" on the given portion of land by the use of resources.

The example for intercropping is "planting one crop" with deep root and planting another crop with shallow deep. Planting the different types of plants at the same land will beneficial because both the plants associate in a way that increases both fitness.

Radish is an ideal intercrop. It is fast and compact, does not require a plenty of nutrients, and are easy to harvest. We can sow radishes with nearly any long-season crop as long as it doesn’t impact your crop rotation too much. We can be sowing them with slow brassicas and tomatoes.
