The compound which have same molecular formulae but different structural formula are known as isomers .The phenomenon of isomers is known as isomerism .

Ex:-

butane

and

iso butane

when we draw the structure of both compounds they both are looking similar because there structural formulae is same but there molecular formulae is different.

Isomerism are of three types:-

• Chain isomerism

• pastoral isomerism

• functional isomerism
