A jobless growth is an economic phenomenon in which a macroeconomy experience growth while maintaining or decreasing it's level of employment. the term was coined  by the economist Nick Perna in the early 1990's.

⇒ Growth without creation of proportionate employment opportunities is called "jobless growth". Machinery and capital when displaces labour (and not helps it) in production,  results in an increase in unemployment and causes " jobless growth".
