A linear polymer is simply a chain in which all of the carbon-carbon bonds exist in a single straight line. An example of a linear polymer is Teflon, which is made from tetrafluoroethylene. It is a single strand of units made from two carbon atoms and four fluorine atoms.

Answer:

The Polymers in which the constituent monomers linked with each other to form a long straight chain are called linear chain polymers. or straight chain polymers.

Linear polymers are well packed thus,

  • high densities
  • high tensile strength
  • high melting points

For example, high density polythene (HDPE) is a linear chain polymer.

Amylose is natural a linear polymer consisting of glucose units linked to each other through glycosidic bonds .
