The most simple way to understand magnetic separation :-

Consider the metal - Iron.

We all know that Iron is attracted my magnet and it's properties. That means Iron is susceptible to magnetic force.

So, Magnetic separation ( a process) is used to separate iron from it's ores like haematite, etc.
