Obscurity is the state of being inconspicuous, unknown or difficult to understand. While the poet William Blake was alive, he was considered obscure.
The English poet and painter, William Blake (1757 – 1827) was largely unknown and not recognised during his lifetime. At one point of time, he was considered a lunatic by his contemporaries. Later after his death, critics and thinkers realised the greatness of his works and now he is one of the central figures as far as romantic poetry and visual arts go.
