collenchyma provides flexibility to the plant. it allows bending without breaking. they are found in leaf stalk below the epidermis. a little intercellular space.

sclerenchyma makes the plant hard and stiff. the cells of this tissue arr dead. walls are thickened due to lignin. no intercellular space, present in stems around vascular bundles, in the veins of leaves and in the hard covering of seed.
