When the solute or solvent moves from higher concentration to lower concentration it is *Passive Transport.*

When the solute or solvent moves from lower concentration to lower concentration with the help of ENERGY it is Active Transport.

in passive transport the premise assist molecules to diffuse through the membrane that it cannot otherwise penetrate. it is a slow process.
in active transport the energy is supplied to the system called pump to transport molecules in a direction opposite to a concentration gradient. it is a rapid process.
