A membrane is said to be permeable when it allows only certain materials to pass in and out of it. A simple example of permeable membrane is cell wall. A cell wall is a permeable membrane which allows the passage of particular substances while preventing others.

•A membrane is said to be permeable, if the Substances, both solute and solvent can pass readily through the membrane.
•EG : If a spoon of salt is dissolved in water, salt is a solute and water is a solvent.In a permeable membrane, both solute and solvent can pass through the membrane.
