When a living plant cell losses water through Osmosis, shrinkage or contraction of the cell content AWAY the cell wall occurs.
This phenomenon is called plasmolysis.

⭕When a cell is placed in a hypotonic solution, it will lose water because inside the cell there is higher concentration and outside is lower concentration and due to this the material will move out of the cell.

⭕This will lead to the shrinkage of that cell.

⭕If a cell will shrink then its organelles and other materials present in the cell will also move towards the centre and the plasma membrane will also come closer this process is known as plasmolysis.
