Answer:

Plot development is the unfolding of a story - ‘the plot’ is the basic engine of a story, that which dictates the actions of the characters and, hopefully, offers a satisfactory solution for the viewer. A story must have a beginning, a middle and an end. The basic structure of most plots is based on very well-tried concepts from Ancient Greek theatre. ‘Twists’ in a plot are where there are unexpected outcomes in the way the story seems to go, or an unexpected character turns out to be behind the final outcome. The story must develop - in (the original) Ben Hur, for example, a tile which slips off a roof accidentally causes the ruin of the great family… but the story develops into a thirst for vengeance as a result. Plots can take a long time to work out, and the twists may develop naturally or as a last attempt to make a dull part more intriguing.
