Actual resource - They are resources which have been put to good use and their total quantity is known Potential resource - They are resources which are still undefined.

(a) Difference between potential and actual resources:


Potential Resources


(i) Those resources whose total quantity is not known.


 (ii) They are not being used at present.


(iii) As technology improves their use in future is possible.


 (iv) Uranium found in Ladakh is an example of potential resources.


Actual Resources


 (i) Those resources whose total quantity is known. 


(ii) They are being used at the present time.


(iii) Available technology is used to use these resources.


 (iv) Rich deposits of coal in Rubr region of Germany is an example of actual resources.
